Become a volunteer literacy tutor

Help an adult who struggles with reading. Become a volunteer literacy tutor.

The first NOW! Foundations training in 2017, open only to those committed to serving a learner through the library’s Literacy Program, is scheduled:

Program orientation: Tuesday, February 28 from 6:00 to 7:30pm

Training workshops: March 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, and 21 from 5:30 to 8:30pm,

All meetings are held at Headquarters Library in the Story Woods room in the children’s area downstairs.

Attending all meetings is a requirement and there are no make-up sessions. Participants will be provided with all materials, and our generous Friends of the Library will provide light meals.

A volunteer application must be in place and potential tutors are required to meet with the Literacy Coordinator prior to attending training. Contact Theresa Sterling for more information at or 352-334-3929.
