The Alachua County Great American Read

Reading is not a passive activity.  Reading has the power to transport us to other places, other worlds, other mindsets, and other cultures.  Books leave an indelible mark on the reader. PBS seeks to have a national conversation on the power of books through the Great American Read program(TGAR).  A list of 100 titles are currently competing for the top spot as the top American read.

We're all interested to know what the top title nationally will be, but here at the Alachua County Library District, we want to know the top title for Alachua County. You've voted on your top 16, now it's time to vote and narrow it down to your top 8 titles! We'll also share programs that will feature conversations about these titles and we'll be sure to share updates on how your favorite titles are doing.

Learn more and make sure your voice is heard in this national coversation by visiting the Great American Read webpage or by joining the coversation on social media for the #GreatReadPBS on Instagram and Facebook, which has a page dedicated to discussing the books, their impact, and how they have influenced readers.
