The Alachua County Great American Read Sweet 16

Book madness is truly underway here in Alachua County!  PBS gave us a list of 100 titles and the people of Alachua County have helped us narrow it down to just 16 titles.  Will your favorite book advance to the next stage of the competition?  The voting period for the Sweet 16 battles runs from now until Sep. 15.  Don't miss your chance to vote.

The Sweet Sixteen battles are:

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee vs. The Chronicles of Narnia (series) by C.S. Lewis

Harry Potter (series) by J.K. Rowling vs. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

1984 by George Orwell vs. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

The Lord of the Rings (series) by J.R.R. Tolkien vs. The Color Purple by Alice Walker

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott vs. Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston

Charlotte's Web by E.B. White vs. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen vs. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery vs. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

Voting has ended for the Sweet 16. Check back soon to vote on the Elite 8. Join the conversation by following the Alachua County Library District on social media @alachualibrary.
