Drummer Stan Lynch's presenation on Thursday, March 12, 6 p.m. is part of the Florida's Got the Blues series of programs at the Matheson Museum,527 East University Avenue.
Lynch will talk about highlights from his 20 years with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, playing on recordings by influential rock artists such as Bob Dylan, Don Henley, Aretha Franklin, John Mellencamp, Stevie Nicks and The Byrds. His 35 years of drumming earned him a spot in the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is also a Grammy nominated songwriter and producer. Lynch will share some of the lessons and stories of his life writing and producing for modern music legends.
The session will be moderated by Gainesville's Jeff Sims who is a childhood friend of Lynch. Sims owned and operated Sims Music and Sound for 20 years and is now a member of the local band the Dixie Desperados.
Little Wing Recording Studio is providing the equipment for the multimedia presentation.
