Summer at the Library: Capoeira! Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. It was developed in Brazil mainly by African descendants with native Brazilian influences, probably beginning in the 16th century. It is known for quick and complex moves, using power, speed, and leverage for a wide variety of kicks, spins, and highly mobile techniques.
Interested? In this high energy class, students will be introduced to capoeira movements that involve the entire body and help to develop strength and flexibility. Brazilian instruments and songs are also introduced. Please wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.
