Mark Saturday, Nov. 2 on your calendar! Headquarters Branch is an all-day demonstration devoted to making reusable bags and other renewable demonstrations from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in in Meeting Room A.
Come make a bag or two from T-shirts, fabrics or super sturdy pet food bags. There will be sewing machines availableto use and volunteers to help. Try several no-sew styles, too.
Community partners including The Repurpose Project, Life Unplastic, Zero Waste Gainesville, Keep Alachua Beautiful, and the Alachua County’s Office of Sustainability will help throughout the day with useful tips and ideas.
Demonstrations will be held throughout the day on making beeswax wrappers, reusable snack bags, environmentally friendly soap and turning old plastic bags into PLARN bags.
Bring your own materials or use ours, sew or don’t sew, there are options for everyone at this upcycle event. Patterns will be available as well.
10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Turning T-shirts and fabrics into reusable bags.
12:30–4 p.m. Use cleaned pet food bags to make reusable bags.
11–11:30 a.m. How to make your own beeswax wrappers.
12:30 pm–1 p.m. Use environmentally friendly ingredients to make your own soap.
1:30—2 p.m. Find out about PLARN and how to make a bag from this strudy stuff.
3—3:30 p.m. Learn to eliminate paper towels and make your own.
