These programs give you a chance to engage with new technologies and be creative. Take a look at list of programs happening in May to see if any of them pique your interest.
 

Alachua Branch:S.T.E.A.M.

Come library staff at Archer for science, technology, engineering, art, and more!
Do you enjoy being creative, exploring technology, and playing with gadgets? Well we have tons of options for you to choose from. Each week we will offer a different activity. Please feel free to contact our branch to find out what we will be doing next.

Archer Branch:

MAKERspace Thursday

You are invited to our creation station!
Join us at the Archer Branch Library on the fourth Thursday of the month for MAKERspace Thursday! We will be offering the supplies - just bring your imagination and create a fun and exciting project!

Cone Park Branch:

MAKERspace: for Kids
May 15, 3 - 4 p.m.
Join us at Cone Park to explore and create during STEM and STEAM activities.

MAKERspace: Architecture for Kids
May 17: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Join us at Cone Park to build and to learn about architecture with presenter Ann Stacy.

Hawthorne Branch:

MakerSpace: Hologram - Turn Your Smart Phone into a 3D Hologram
May 28, 3:30 - 5 p.m.
Cut and glue plastic trapezoids into a hologram projector for your smart phone! Ages 10-18
Explore the magic of 3D holograms with your smart phone by creating your very own hologram projector!

Headquarters Branch:

MAKERspace Celebrates Pet Month - Make a cat or dog toy
May 5, 19, 2 - 4 p.m.
Celebrate Pet month with the Makerspace Team by making cat and dog toys. We have patterns for sewing and hand crafted ones. You make keep the toys or join us by donating them to the Humane Society.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult

A four week program teaching the basics of hand and machine sewing. No prior experience necessary. Generously sponsored by our Friends of the Library.
This program is for teens (12-18) and adults.
Registration is suggested. Any registrants who do not show, their spots will be offered on a first come first served basis.

CREATEspace - Learn, explore, create
May 8, 15, 22, 29, 3 - 4 p.m.
Explore the possibilities, engage your muse: We build, create, cook, read, and have fun with activity stations such as art, electronics and building. Come join us and help us create a space where engineering and art meet. We cook on the first Wednesday of the month.

Library Partnership Branch:

Open Studio - MUSICspace
May 7, 14, 21, 28 3:45 - 5:30 p.m.
Recording studio is opened every Tuesday as an afternoon hangout and creativity zone. Create a track, record a song, or just chill out and see what music production is all about.

MAKERspace: Imagine, Build, Create
May 30, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
A makerspace featuring LEGO, robotics, circuits, coding and other exciting stuff!
This hands on program will encourage exploration in the STEAM fields while providing a fun and interactive learning environment at various MAKERstations. New equipment and materials will be available each session and there will be activities for various ages. Meetings will be held on the last Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m.

Millhopper Branch:

ANIMATIONspace
May 16, 3 - 4:30 p.m.
Come learn to make stop-motion animation and claymation films! Please register to hold your spot--but walk-ins are welcome!
Are you interested in filming? Have a story you really want to tell? Or just want to learn how to make a stopmotion or claymation film? Come create with us! We provide the camera, clay, and other materials needed to make your film spectacular! Please register to hold your spot--but walk-ins are welcome. Before you come, take a look at some of the films made by previous attendees: Millhopper Toon Team and our newer channel ANIMATIONspace Studio.

Tower Road Branch:

Star Wars Matinee
May 6, 3 - 5:30 p.m.
In celebration of Star Wars we, we will have a viewing of "Solo: A Star Wars Story" and a craft.
Come to Tower Road for a showing of "Solo: A Star Wars Story" as well as a craft.
