Teen TECHspace

Join us at the Hawthorne Library for a fun makerspace afternoon with hands-on activities for tweens and teens ages 10 - 18.  Meet our LEGO Mindstorm Robot (EV3)!

What is a makerspace?  Creative Do-It-Yourself (DIY) space where learners can gather to create, invent and learn.  Center that combines creation or take apart experiences with community and education.  Place where teens can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials.

What are the benefits of a makerspace?  Makerspaces promote inter-disciplinary learning and knowledge, effectively dissolving the artificial barriers that schools create for subject areas. ... Makerspaces promote an innovative blend of disciplines that can ignite problem solving and spark new invention.
