Fall into the Micanopy Branch

As we all look forward to some cooler weather, the Micanopy Branch is ready to celebrate the fall with some fun programs.


October Events:

Story Time every Saturday at 11:30 a.m., Ages 1-5  (Oct 5, 12, 19, 26).

  • Wed, Oct 9: LegoSpace at 3:30 p.m., Ages 3-18.  Calling all Master Builders! Join us to build any awesome LEGO thing your mind can dream up. We also have some LEGO DUPLOs for our youngest Builders. 


  • *POSTPONED* Wed, Oct 16: Teen Time at 4:00 p.m., Ages 12-18.  Monthly program time for teens and tweens. Comic book/graphic novel club, DIY, crafts. 
    • This event will be rescheduled ASAP.


  • Fri, Oct 18: Q-BA Maze Marble Run Free Play at 3:00 p.m., Ages 5-11    Q-BA Maze is a system of cubes that interlock to form a marble run. Build a tower, a sculpture, or a geometric shape and test it out.  Check out this video to see it in action.

  • Sat, Oct 19: Q-BA Maze Marble Run Free Play at 3:00 p.m., Ages -11.   Q-BA returns for a second day of marble run fun.


  • Wed, Oct 30: Addam's Family Celebration at 3:00 p.m., Ages 5-18.  Walk your Thing down the runway and compete in Addams Family trivia.  Addams Family is coming back and we're celebrating the spooky first family.  *Event has been rescheduled from October 16.  


  • Wed, Oct 30: Halloween Masks at 3:30 p.m., Ages 5-18. Make your own DIY Halloween mask.  


November Events:

Micanopy Branch is closed on Saturday, November 2 for the Fall Festival.  

Remember to have your clocks fall back at 2 a.m. on November 3!


Story Time continues on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., Ages 1-5 (Nov 9, 16, 23, 30).

Bees in an apiary

  • Sun, Nov 9: Beekeeping for Beginners at 3:00 p.m.,Ages 18 and up.  From hive to honey, everything you wanted to know about keeping bees.  President of the Orange Blossom Beekeepers Association, Andrew Beard, will talk about what’s required to set up and maintain an apiary, how to obtain bees and keep them healthy and productive, and explain how honey is made and harvested.  Honey tasting samples will be available.  Find out what all the buzz is about!


  • Wed, Nov 13: LegoSpace at 3:30 .pm., Ages 3-18.  LEGO free building returns on the second Wednesday of each month.


  • Wed, Nov 20: Owls of North Florida at 3:30 p.m., All ages. Have you ever wondered about those owls from Harry Potter? Have you seen an owl in real life? Well the wait is over, Sunrise Wildlife Rehabilitation is bringing in LIVE owls to the library where you can learn more about owls and their preservation.

All Alachua County Library District locations close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 and remain closed on Thursday the 28, and Friday the 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.  


December Events:

Story Time continues on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., Ages 1-5 (Dec. 7, 14, 21, 28). 

  • Rustic felt deer ornamentSat. Dec 7: Hand Stitched Deer Ornament at 2:30 p.m., Ages 12 and up.  Follow along with CreativeBug eSource instructor Courtney Cerruti to create a rustic fawn ornament using felt, simple embroidery and hand stitching. 


  • Wed., Dec 11: LegoSpace at 3:30 p.m., Ages 3-18.  


  • Sat., Dec 14: Feel the Force: Star Wars Party at 2:00 p.m., Ages 5 and up.  Get ready for the final Star Wars of the sequel trilogy, The Rise of Skywalker (in theaters Dec 20). Catch up with the story so far and play with a Sphero, a rolling robot.  Watch a video of the cool BB-8 Sphero in action.


  • Wed., Dec 18: Switch Gaming at 3:30 p.m., Ages 10-18. Photo of the Nintendo Switch dock and two controllers

All Alachua County Library District locations will be closed Tuesday the 24 and Wednesday the 25 for the Christmas holiday.  All locations will close by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31 for New Year's Eve.
