The Alachua County Library District (ACLD) invites the community to the Renovation Expansion Celebration of Newberry Branch on July 11, 10 a.m., at 110 S. Seaboard Drive, Newberry. This celebration will unveil the completion of the 3,200 sq. ft. expansion and the renovation of the Newberry Branch which doubled the size of this library in order to better serve the growing population in Newberry and Jonesville areas.
“We are delighted to add needed space for computers, studying and comfort areas all within a truly beautiful community library,” said Library Director Shaney T. Livingston. “We are proud to welcome everyone to see another example of creating a vibrant, well-stocked library that addresses the growing demand for access to resources, educational programs and entertainment for all ages.”
Library District board members, local dignitaries and special guests will deliver brief remarks followed by a ribbon cutting, reception, library tours and fun activities. Library staff will provide tours to show visitors the new additions including more than 700 books added to the collection and a spectacular children’s area with a farm theme designed by Themeworks of High Springs complemented with colorful, child-friendly furniture, new carpet and two Early Learning computers. A quiet reading room for laptop users and readers that prefer peace and quiet, two new study rooms and a dynamic teen room are other highlights.
