New York Times bestselling author, Dorothea Benton Frank, passed away on Monday, September 2nd after a brief battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, a cancer similar to leukemia. She was author of 20 novels set in the Charleston, South Carolina area. Frank's latest book, Queen Bee, was published in May of this year.
Dottie, as she was called by her friends and family, grew up on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina. Her stories were heavily influenced by her life growing up in the Lowcountry. Dorothea is survived by her husband and two children.
