Turn an old book into a decorative sculpture

Books are awesome!  And if you are lurking around on a library website, you probably are aware of this.  But let's be honest - not every book merits a second read.   And you may have some of those "why did I ever buy this?" books on your shelf right now.  Those are perfect for this project.  Also, if you are lacking in flat spaces to display objets d' art, these cool book sculptures can be suspended from the ceiling to add another dimension to your decor.

Interested?  Join us in the Foundation Room at Headquarters on Monday, May 4th at 6:30 PM.  Old books will be provided for this project, but if you have one (or some) of your own that you would like to use, feel free to bring them.

Also, if you think you want to make a bunch of these to give to friends or family, be sure to check out the annual Friends of the Library sale, which is going on Saturday, April 25 - Wednesday, April 29.   Not only is this a great opportunity to stock up on books you will read, it is also a good chance to stock up on books that you can use for crafting, especially if you go on Wednesday, which is 10-cent day.
