Gainesville, Fla. – The Alachua County Library District is accepting submissions for the Teen Creative Writing Contest now through April 16. Teens in sixth through 12th grade can enter short stories and poems.
Teens can visit www.aclib.us/TeenCreativeWritingContest for contest rules and entry instructions. Winners will be selected from the sixth through eighth grades and ninth through 12th grades in the categories of short stories and poems. Local literary professionals will judge the entries. Three winners will be named for each grade range in each category.
Winners will be announced at a virtual event on Saturday, May 15 at 2 p.m.
“The Teen Creative Writing Contest is a great way for growing writers to stretch their wings and be recognized for their poetry and prose,” said Youth Services Librarian Meaghan Bonnaghan. “We hope that the ability to submit three poems will encourage teens to expand their literary horizons during National Poetry Month in April. We can’t wait to read the entries as they start to pour in.”
