Teen Summer Reading Adventures! It's time to Unmask!

Are you a Hero or a Villain?  We willl let you decide when you attend the end of the summer FanFest Party.  This party will take place at the Millhopper Branch Library in Gainesville on Friday, August 7th at 6 PM.  All programs listed below will be offered at the Hawthorne Branch Library.

Start off the summer byJoining us for some fun at the Hawthorne Library!  All you have to do is show up at the library on or after June 4th, register for the Summer Reading Adventures and receive your back pack filled with coupons to some of your favorite places, and more.

If you register at the Hawthorne Library on June 4th from 2 PM - 4 PM you will get to make your own ice cream sundae!

June Programs for Teens!

Our first Battle of the Books Meeting will be held every Friday at 2 PM starting June 5th in the Teen Space!  If you love to read and enjoy a competition, this is the battle for you.  Just show up!  Final Competition will be held in Gainesville at the main library on Saturday, July 25th (time will be posted closer to battle day).  All competitors must have transportation to the main library in Gainesville.

Monday Teen Scrabble!  Every Monday at 2:15 beginning June 15th teens can get together for a game of scrabble.  Bring your friends or meet new ones.  Wii Gaming for all ages will follow after Scrabble.

Sequential Artist Workshop for Teens!  Teens can learn how to create new comics and draw some of their favorites in this Sequential Art Workshop on Thursday, June 11 at 2 PM.

Audubon Adventure for Teens!  Do you like to draw?  Let's draw and record the natural world together.  You don't have to be an artist.  Just join us and have some fun discovering nature in our library's own back yard.

July Programs for Teens!

Spray Can Paint for Teens!  This fun art program will teach teens how to use cans and spray paint to create art.  You don't have to be an artist.  Just show up on Thursday, July 2nd at 2 PM for some fun.

Bugs Around the World for Teens!  Meet and ineract with bugs such as tarantulas from Chile and a scorpion from Asia with UF's Entomology and Nematology Department.  Don't be shy!  They won't bite!  See you on Thursday, July 16th at 2 PM.

Masks Around the World for Teens!  Teens will be introduced to the way different cultures around the world use masks.  They will also have the opportunity to create their own mask to take home.  Join us on Friday, July 24th at 3 PM.

August Programs for Teens! 

Create Cartoon Light Switch Covers for Teens!  Teens will use recycled comic book pages to decorate light switch covers.  Join us for some crafty fun on Thursday, August 6th at 3 PM.

Enjoy being creative at the art table in the Teen Space throughout the summer!  Just come to the Hawthorne Library this summer, get out of the heat and have some fun!
