ArtSpace at Waldo Branch

Looking for a way to introduce calming elements in your life? Relax, refresh, and refocus in our ArtSpace! We’ll complete this series exploring artful activities with an emphasis on calming, harmonious and quiet elements while listening to melodic music. Upcoming projects include:

Simple colors in bands show a sunset over water

Silent Beach –Saturday, Oct. 19, 2 p.m. Sound of waves, the endless view of surf and sky and salty air can clear our minds. Using water colors, we’ll form flowing and soft horizontal bands of color – a quiet image like one seen in Edgar Degas’ Marine Sunset.

A single white cloud against a blue sky

One Cloud – Wednesday, Oct. 23, 4 p.m. & Saturday, Oct. 26, 2 p.m. As Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi’s A Small Cloud shows a simple design and fresh, clean colors, we’ll use colored papers, book pages, colored pencils or charcoals to design our own harmonious, cloud collage.

Pastel colors makes waves of sky and ocean

Ocean Impression – Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. & Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. Though Monet’s paintings such as On the High Seas have lots of color and the paint strokes have energy, the overall experience is serene. We’ll create calming collage in similar colors using a variety of small pieces of torn paper, indicating the changing light on sky and waves.
