Check out Newberry Branch's new telescope

Alachua Astronomy Club donated a modified Orion StarBlast 4.5 inch Dobsonian reflector as a telescope that can be checked out by library card holders. This 13-pound telescope, presented on September 29, is easy to use, very portable and comes with quality optics. Learn how novice observers can easily obtain their first views of the moon and its craters, Jupiter and its Galilean satellites, and Saturn and its rings. Brighter deep sky objects can be seen, as well.

The referenced media source is missing and needs to be re-embedded.
Alachua Astronomy Club received a grant from the Astronomical League to fund this “Library Loaner Scope” program which makes a low cost, quality telescope available for check out, just like books. The telescope is available only at the Newberry Branch and may be borrowed for four weeks by a current library card holder 18 years or older with photo ID. In order to offer quicker access, renewal check outs are not available.
