Since then Brooke and her family have become social pariahs, broken and unable to console one another. Brooke’s only solace remains the ice-skating rink, where she works but no longer lets herself dream about a future skating professionally.

This book should have a warning label because it is a tear jerker that deals with some deep emotions. I've read several stories over the years about families who have lost a loved one to death, but here we see things through the eyes of the killer's family, not the victim's. A unique view on a horrible situations, with a huge twist that I would have liked a little more of an ending, but maybe that is the point, it's just the beginning of their stories.
