Tax season is upon us and the library and our partners are here to help you file your 2020 taxes. Tax filing season begins February 12, 2021 and the IRS has outlined steps to speed refunds during the pandemic.
The deadline to file your 2020 taxes is May 17, 2021.
The library has tax forms and instruction booklets available for pick-up. Please call ahead to ensure forms are available at your preferred library branch. The forms available are a booklet including the 1040, 1040-SR (senior), and Schedules 1, 2, 3, and LEP. The form booklet is also available in Spanish. The booklet does not contain instructions or any other forms/schedules. These and additional forms, along with instructions, can also be found on the IRS website.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is closed for the Tax Year 2020 Season. If you have inquiries on your tax return that AARP prepared for you, please contact (888) 227-7669.
IRS Free File is now open! File your taxes online for free. The IRS Free File Program is a public-private partnership between the IRS and many tax preparation and filing software industry leaders who provide their brand-name products for free.
United Way VITA tax help begins on January 25, 2021. They are utilizing a drop-off system where taxpayers will drop off their tax documents, the VITA volunteers will prepare the tax returns, and the taxpayers will return at a said date to pick their tax returns up.
For more information, please call the 2-1-1 helpline or 352-332-4636 (if you do not have a phone number with a 352 area code). Appointments are not necessary, but preferred.
