Did you know that there’s an entire day dedicated to recognizing the advancing and growing technology that makes our mobile lives run smoother? It’s National Streaming Day! National Streaming Day is celebrated each year on May 20th. Let’s take a look at how streaming impacts our everyday lives and what kind of free streaming services you can get through the Alachua County Library District, with only a library card required!
On May 20th of 2008, the streaming company Roku unveiled the streaming player, which was the very first device that could stream Netflix to your TV. 6 years later in 2014, National Streaming Day was established by Roku to celebrate the milestone anniversary each year. Today, we have so many popular streaming services from Netflix to Hulu and more. The price for these streaming services can start to add up! Why not stream for free through the library?

With an Alachua County Library District library card, Alachua County residents have 24/7 access to streaming through hoopla. With hoopla, patrons can get free access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, music, TV shows, comics, and graphic novels on your personal digital devices. All in one place with no fees required!
