Best known as one of the leading members of the Stonewall uprising, Marsha P. Johnson was a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front, an outspoken advocate for gay rights, and a self-identified drag queen.  Johnson was close friends with Sylvia Rivera (another drag activist), and the two worked to provide local resources and support for gay and trans street kids.

The 'P' in Marsha's name comes from the phrase "pay it no mind", which was Johnson's go-to response when questioned about gender.
