The Beanstack Winter Reading Challenge is back with a new goal for our community—to read 350,000 minutes. The 2024 Winter Reading Challenge: Where We Come From, runs from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31. This year’s theme is all about diving into the profound topics of family, history, and identity. Through the magic of literature, readers will embark on a transformative journey that encourages self-reflection and a deeper understanding of their own personal narratives.
Any book you read counts!
Participants can pre-register for the challenge at www.aclib.us/beanstack or by using the Beanstack app. Log your time spent reading, complete activities, and submit book reviews in Beanstack to earn badges and fill up a virtual bingo card. Each badge earned and minute logged helps the Library District advance in the challenge.
Throughout the month of January 2024, participants will have the opportunity to track their reading minutes and embark on a personal journey of self-discovery through a variety of engaging activities. As participants make progress, they will earn virtual badges on a virtual bingo card, adding a fun element of friendly competition to the challenge. And that's not all! Libraries and schools with the highest levels of engagement will have a chance to win rewards, including signed books and grants of up to $1,000 from the sponsors.
In February 2021, Alachua County Library District was one of six public libraries nationwide to win the Winter Reading Challenge. The Library District received a virtual author visit and a collection of books. It could happen again in 2024!
We are happy to let you know that Escapology Gainesville will now be sponsoring the Winter Reading Challenge. One random winner from each category, kids, teens, and adults, will receive a prize pack from Escapology. Every badge you complete is another entry into the drawing.
Thank you to our amazing sponsor for this event.
