Do You Want to Start a Scandal review

I’ve been in a reading rut. I haven’t read a book in months, but once Tessa Dare’s Do You Want to Start a Scandal came across my desk I had to read it. What pulled me to this book was the title. It sounded very similar to a hit song from a very popular Disney movie. First thought, well that is a very clever title. Second thought, it’s in the middle of a series. But, fear not fellow reader, you need not have read the other books to understand the characters. This can be read as a standalone.

Let’s get into this book. We have Charlotte Hightower, the youngest of three daughters, out making her first appearance in her season. Her mother is very concerned about making a good match for her. Charlotte approaches Lord Piers Granville to warn him that she has no intention of marrying despite her mother’s claims. But, alas, they are caught in a complicated position of being alone in the library without a chaperone. They now must wed, even though Charlotte just told him she wasn’t going to. This begins an adventure of finding the identities of a couple of mystery lovers, Charlotte continuously trying to “save” Piers from a multitude of things, the main one being marriage, and Piers trying to convince Charlotte otherwise.

This is a delightful regency romance with a cast of great characters and a witty and clever heroine. I could not have asked for a better book to get me back to reading. I’m on my way to reading the rest of the series.
