The Great British Book Club will have its next meeting on Tuesday, Mar. 24 at 4:00 p.m. in the Foundation Room at Library Headquarters.

Join British citizens and Anglophiles as we discuss our first book, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. It is the first in a series of mysteries about eleven-year-old sleuth Flavia De Luce. The story is set in Buckshaw, England. Flavia, intrigued by a series of inexplicable events, finds a man lying in a cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath. For Flavia, who is both appalled and delighted, life begins in earnest when murder comes to Buckshaw. “I wish I could say I was afraid, but I wasn’t. Quite the contrary. This was by far the most interesting thing that had ever happened to me in my entire life."

The Great British Book Club will consider any book that has anything to do with England, Scotland, Ireland, or Wales. Whether it is the setting, the author, or the characters, we will be jolly glad to hear your book ideas. It can be fiction, nonfiction, poetry, short stories, or novellas. It can be old, new, well- known, or a hidden gem.

We look forward to sharing your love of British writing.

Cheers!
