The Fall Teen Art Show provided a wonderful opportunity for teens from around Alachua County to show off their artistic side. A total of 60 artist submitted 110 pieces of unique artwork, everything from sculptures, charcoal drawings, oil paintings, photography, and much more. Three judges from around the community came together with the difficult task of awarding twelve pieces for talent, skill, and uniqueness. One judge had this to say about the incredible talent of the artists, "I've been lucky enough to be involved with the library's Teen Art Show for many years now, and yet I am always surprised by the level of skill and talent that each individual show brings. To the young artists, no matter your skill, keep making art, keep learning, experimenting, and above all keep expressing yourself."
All artwork is on display at the Headquarters Library in downtown Gainesville this weekend in Meeting Room A during regular library hours. All are welcome to come and view the artwork as well as vote for their favorite piece. Along with Crowd Favorite, awards were given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, four Honorable Mentions, Best Logo, Best Portrait, Best Nature Art, Best Drawing, and Best Painting. Artists can contact organizer Samantha Noll about picking up certificates and awards by email at snoll@aclib.us or calling the Youth Services Department at 352-334-3941.
