Insurgent, a book review by Julia

Julia writes:

As the sequel to Veronica Roth's Divergent, Insurgent follows the aftermath of Erudite’s attack on the Abnegation faction. Despite suffering with great loss and regret, Tris Prior struggles to find the courage and strength to keep fighting. Though she feels lost and hopeless, she still devotes her time and energy into investigating the reason Erudite launched the attack.  After learning that it has to do with classified information that Abnegation was planning to release to the public, Tris makes it her primary goal to learn the truth, even if it means her death.

While the writing was exquisite and captivating, I felt a sort of disconnect with the new characters that were introduced in this book. I would have liked to see more of the characters from the previous book, however, this book focused on a new batch of characters that I had no ties to. Despite this, the book was still enjoyable for me because I got to see more of Tris and Tobias’s relationship and how Tris copes with the events from Divergent. I am looking forward to reading Allegiant to find out what happens next for Tris.
