For many detective mystery writer, Kinsey Millhone is part of the family since A is for Alibi was published in 1982. Each book subsequently published by author Sue Graton has followed alphabetical order and led Kinsey and her friends (and enemies) through many crime scenes.  Her last book is Y is for Yesterday and her family has stated in the New York Times, Dec. 29, 2017;

“She was adamant that her books would never be turned into movies or TV shows, and in that same vein, she would never allow a ghost writer to write in her name. Because of all of those things, and out of the deep abiding love and respect for our dear sweet Sue, as far as we in the family are concerned, the alphabet now ends at Y.”

Her first book in the series was not especially loved by the critics but readers continually put her books on the best seller lists time and time again. The combination of a female author and a female protagonist in a male dominated world found many readers.  Ms. Grafton felt that her characters realized the human and emotional effects of the crimes in her books made them more understanding than the rough, macho detective in other series.

We will miss you Kinsey and thank you Sue Grafton for an enjoyable series.  You can find print, large print, eBook, and audible books by Sue Grafton in our collection to place on hold.
