My hens are getting old and it is time to renew the flock.
One of my hens got broody, which means she sits on whatever eggs are availalble.
I found someone to sell me some fertile eggs for her to sit on, and the countdown began..
21 days..19..18..17..16..15..14...3 she began clucking softly
2 days.. more soft clucking sounds
1 day.. I hear soft peeping sounds coming from the nest. The picture below is the three little peepers beside momma hen who is showing them how to peck for food.
Now I have three young peepers, which is what I call baby chicks.
Day 2, they are eating on their own.
