Joe Biden

On January 20th, 2021, Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. President-elect Biden (we call him president-elect because he has been elected as president, but has not yet taken the oath of office) has had a long career in politics, almost fifty years! He served as a United States Senator from 1973 to 2009, when he was inaugurated as Vice-President, a position he held for the two terms of the Obama Administration.

The United States will also have a new vice-president in Kamala Harris. Vice president-elect Harris came into politics through a career in law. She was elected district attorney in San Francisco in 2003, attorney general of California in 2010, and United States Senator in 2016. Harris's vice presidency will be historic, as she is the first woman, the first Black person, and the first Asian American to be elected vice president!
