Kids Summer Reading

Summer Reading begins on June 9th at all Alachua County Library District (ACLD) libraries. Exercise your brain, mind, heart, spirit and body with Summer Reading programs for all ages, all summer long. Kids can sign up for the Summer Reading in person or at any of the 12 libraries and two bookmobiles, or online June 9th through August 7th:

Just for signing up, kids will receive a envelope full of reading incentives--coupons, bookmarks, stickers and color changing pencils-- that includes a Brain Map to track their summer reading progress. This year, children will also receive an age-appropriate book courtesy of the Friends of the Library when they sign up for summer reading. As young readers chart their progress throughout the summer, they will receive two more books--one in July and one in August.

Summer Reader Palooza: The third annual Summer Reader Palooza will celebrate Summer Reading success with fun, crafts, books and more. Community partners will provide educational, interactive activities. Sun., August 7th, 1:30 to 3:30 PM, ages 3 to 11, Headquarters Library.

Your local public library branches are planning fun and fit summer programs. Highlights include DoDads Labs, Hula, Disc Golf, Magic Mike, Traditional Asian Dance and Jongleur Jugglers.

For a complete list of summer programming, stop by your local branch and pick up your summer schedule or visit our events page.

Happy Reading!  See you at the library for fun and fitness this summer!
