Live Virtual Story Time: You Can Do It!

Sometimes it's hard to do things, but with a little help, encouragement and perseverance, you can do it. During this live virtual story time, we'll have fun picture books and some songs and fingerplays. The event will be live via Zoom and our Facebook page on Tuesday, May 4 at 11 a.m.

In one of the stories we'll read, Jabari tries to make a cool flying machine.  Here are some links to things you might like to try to build, but remember to ask for help, and don't give up!  From the Exploratorium, try one of these air-powered, moveable sculptures.  One of the inventions that Jabari is working on looks like a Rube Goldberg machine, and here's a link that will get you started on creating one of your own.

Here are some books about kids who stick with it when trying difficult things.

Catkwondo by Lesl Detlefsen

Abracadabra! The Magic of Trying by Maria Giraldo

Kamala and Maya's Big Idea by Meena Harris (Also available as an ebook through Overdrive.)

Izzy Gizmo by Pip Jones

Pepper and Frannie by Catherine Odell

The Thing Lou Couldn't Do by Ashley Spires

You Can Do It, Noisy Nora by Rosemary Wells

And, finally, we have to enjoy Mr. Rogers singing You've Got to Do It. Cick on the image to link to the site, then click the Play button from Mr. Rogers's website.
