Millhopper School of Witchcraft & Wizardry - November

The Book lists are finally ready for your viewing!  I know it’s taken quite a bit extra time than we expected or anticipated.  If I didn’t know any better, I’d think there was some dark magic interfering with our ability to get the booklists to you.  But we all know that Lord Voldemort was defeated by Harry Potter, so that can’t be it.Books

You can open the attached booklist at the bottom of this blog.  Just select some books that you find interesting on your reading level and go.  You will earn House points for every 5 books you read and post a review to your Beanstack account.  Make sure to join the Millhopper School of Witchcraft and Wizardry   To earn House points, the books that you review must come from one of our book lists.  And remember, this is all optional.  Think of it like extra credit.  Points earned by writing book reviews will be awarded at the Graduation Ceremony in April.

November is going to be a fun month for Millhopper School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  Follow the links to register for each class.  Remember, registration begins 1 week before the class.

Our first class is on November 1st at 4:30.  It’s time for Care of Magical Creatures.  The Santa Fe Zoo will be here for a visit to talk about some amazing animals and their "magical powers" of adaptation.

Dumbledore’s Army is meeting on November 15 at 5:00.  This is a great opportunity to talk about everyone’s favorite wizard, Harry Potter and other programs you would like to see offered by the Millhopper Branch Library and the Millhopper School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Next up, is another great class – Defense Against the Dark Arts!  On November 16th at 4:30 PM, you will have the opportunity to learn some great defensive moves to keep yourself protected.  We have special guest instructors from Capoeira Academy of Gainesville coming for this class.

November 18th at 1:30 is the Harry Potter Movie Exercise Challenge.  This month’s movie is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.  Do you have what it takes to make it through the whole movie?  There are two options – All Ages and Teens.

The Owls, for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, are on November 20th at 4:30 and November 21st at 6:00.  It is the same program for both days and times, just sign up for one or the other.  How well do you know your book trivia?  The questions come from the book – NOT the movie, so if you want to pass, you need to read the book.

All of these programs will earn you 3 House points, but don’t forget, you can attend any library program at any library around Alachua County and earn 2 House points.  Just take your Student ID booklet with you to collect your stamps.

One more thing...don't forget that every Harry Potter book had a mystery that Harry and his friends had to solve.  Millhopper School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is no different.  We have a mystery and the clues are starting to appear.  To find clues, check out the passive activities, the displays around the library, and you might just get a clue or two during a Millhopper School of Witchcraft and Wizardry class.
