In February, we are focusing our attention on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Need a copy to prepare for the OWLs, stop by the library and ask for a copy. The OWLs will be on February 26 at 4:30 PM and February 27 at 6:00 PM. No need to register, just pick the program that works best for your schedule. We look forward to seeing you there.
There is something new for this month. Think you have the perfect question for the OWLs? Just pick up one of our slips, write your question, the answer, and the page number where it can be found and drop it into the Question box. Then, if we use your question during the OWLs, you will earn 5 House points. Questions must be submitted by February 21st.
Okay, so here is the class schedule:
First up this month, is History of Magic.
We have a guest professor coming to teach this class on Thursday, February 8th at 6:00 PM. Don't worry, our class won't be taught by a ghost and surely won't be nearly as boring as Professor Binns.
The Harry Potter Movie Workout Challenge is Saturday, February 10th at 1:30 PM
Remember Ron’s ill-fated attempt to turn his rat into a water goblet? Stop by between 6:00 and 8:00 PM on February 12 to make your very own Ron Weasley-inspired water goblet craft. We have supplies for 20 students, so to guarantee a goblet, make sure to register here.
Dumbledore’s Army meets on Wednesday, February 21 at 5:00 PM. This program is open to everyone in the Millhopper School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We like to talk about Harry Potter but we also discuss program ideas that you might have. We love to hear what you would like to see us offer, and here is your chance to let us know.
Our final class of the month should prove exciting. On Saturday, February 24th, we have a guest from Hands On Gainesville coming for a Potions class! Fun, engaging, hands-on science behind potion making. There are two sessions. The first one is at 11:00 AM and the second session is at 12:15 PM. You should be able to drop in, but if you want to guarantee a spot, make sure to register here for the 11:00 AM class and here for the 12:15 PM class.
Oh, and I bet you’d like to know about the H
ouse points standing. As of right now, Ravenclaw is still in the lead. Well done, Ravenclaw.
We have plenty of programs left in the school term and plenty of opportunities to earn House points. Ravenclaw may have a commanding lead right now but it really is still anybody’s to win. Don’t forget about the passive activities. 1 point may not seem like much, but Slytherin had actually taken 3rd place from Gryffindor until a Gryffindor student turned in her passive activities for the month.
