A spotlight on Homebound services

Image removed. The Alachua County Library District is here to serve the residents of Alachua County, and one of the most basic services it provides is the check-out of materials.  How then, can the Library District assist patrons who are physically unable to come to one of the many branch locations or Bookmobile stops

For these situations, the Library District makes use of the competitive shipping rates offered by the United States Postal Service and mails requested books, movies, and other media to the patron's home.  This Homebound service is provided entirely free of charge.  The Library District pays all transit costs for the materials, which are shipped in reusable nylon mailers (pictured to the left).

The Homebound program is just one of the many ways the Library District provides services and access to patrons with special needs.
