Governing Board
The Governing Board includes three members of the Board of Alachua County Commissioners, two members of the Gainesville City Commission and one member of the Alachua County School Board. Members are selected by their respective Commission or Board and take actions necessary to provide public library services to the citizens of Alachua County.

Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees includes three Alachua County representatives, three City of Gainesville representatives and one League of Cities representative. Members are citizen volunteers appointed by the Governing Board who work with the Library District and Governing Board in developing recommendations, advocacy and other supportive duties.
