Contact: Rachel Cook

Gainesville, Fla. – All Alachua County Library District locations will remain closed through Sunday, April 12, with tentative plans to reopen on Monday, April 13.

The Library District closed all branches starting Sunday, March 15 and suspended all programs and meeting room reservations through Thursday, April 30. Patrons can access digital resources from anywhere 24 hours a day at www.aclib.us/mobile.

  • Patrons with materials currently checked out will be able to keep those items until April 30, regardless of the materials’ original due dates. The Alachua County Library District does not charge overdue fees. We ask that patrons do not place any items in the book drops while the Library District is closed.
  • Holds that were available for pickup when the Library District closed have been extended until April 20. If a patron had an item ready to pick up on Saturday, March 14, it will still be waiting for them when the Library District reopens.
  • If a patron’s card is expiring during the closure, their expiration date has been extended through April 30.
  • Alachua County residents who do not have library cards can sign up for access to more than 79,000 digital books through the Library District’s OverDrive vendor. Community members can visit www.aclib.us/OverDrive and enter their mobile phone number to register. Visit www.aclib.us/ebookhelp for instructions to download the Libby or OverDrive apps to read or listen to books on tablets and phones.
