Community partners, library present Re-Entry Partnership Conference and Job Fair in May

Gainesville, Fla. – Alachua County Library District and Partnership for Strong Families in collaboration with community partners present the fifth Re-Entry Partnership Conference May 10-13 virtually and in person and the Community Job and Resource Fair May 24 at the GNV Commons downtown. The Re-Entry Partnership Conference and Job and Resource Fair are geared to help people with criminal backgrounds or others struggling to re-enter the workforce access educational programs and discover entrepreneurship opportunities.

The Re-Entry Partnership Conference is 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday, May 10-Thursday, May 13 online and in-person at the Library Partnership Resource Center, Forest Pines Community Center, and the UF TREEO Center. Trained experts will help participants build skills and access resources to obtain employment, increase educational opportunities, offer job searching tips, interview advice, and tips for turning talents into a business. The conference is designed to prepare participants for the Community Job and Resource Fair and beyond.

Attendees are encouraged to register in advance at www.aclib.us/ReEntry and indicate their preference to attend virtually or in person. Participants who complete all workshops will receive employment-related incentives, such as professional clothing, a resume and portfolio, and a thumb drive. Attendees can also earn community service hours for taking part in the conference. Conference participants who complete all four days of the conference will be eligible to receive a monthly bus pass.

The Re-Entry Community Job and Resource Fair is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, May 24 at GNV Commons, formerly known as Lot 10, at 100 SW 1 Ave. on the corner of Southwest First Avenue and Second Street in downtown Gainesville. This job and resource fair is open to anyone and allows job seekers to meet face-to-face with potential employers and representatives from community agencies to address employment-related barriers.

Alachua County Library District, Partnership for Strong Families, Community Spring, Alachua County Court Services, Santa Fe College, University of Florida Community Engagement Professional and Workforce Development, Marc Radio Group, Magic 101.3, 100.5 The Buzz, Florida Department of Corrections, CareerSource of North Central Florida, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Housing Authority, and Greater Gainesville Chamber are collaborating to offer the conference and job fair.
