Have you ever looked at Japanese or Chinese writing and thought, "Wow - I would love to try that" - well, look no further! Join me, Ms. Sylvia from the Hawthorne Branch, on Wednesday, May 12 from 3-4 p.m. on Zoom or Facebook. I will guide you through a brief history of how Japanese characters came to be what they are, a drawing demo of some simple characters, and how you can combine characters to form other words. I will have bamboo brushes and traditional Japanese ink and paper, but all you will need is ordinary paper and pens so that you can follow along.
Finally, check out these books in our collection about Japanese character writing:
Sayonara (Japanese for goodbye) - hope to see you on May 12!
