Gainesville, Fla. – All Alachua County Library District locations will remain closed until further notice due to the continued threat of COVID-19 (coronavirus). All library programs and meeting room reservations are suspended.
The Library District leadership chose to extend the closure to protect the health and safety of patrons and staff. The Library District leadership team will continue to monitor the directives of the Center for Disease Control, as well as local and state orders.
Patrons can access digital resources including thousands of digital books, magazines, and educational resources for adults and children 24 hours a day at www.aclib.us/mobile. Alachua County residents who do not have library cards can sign up for access to more than 79,000 digital books at www.aclib.us/OverDrive with their cellphone number. Alachua County Public School and PK Yonge students can use the Library District’s online tools with their Student Library Card information.
Customers can contact the Library District with questions Monday through Saturday between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. by phone, text, email, or web chat.
Patrons with materials currently checked out can keep those items until the library reopen, regardless of the materials’ original due dates. The Alachua County Library District does not charge overdue fees. We ask that patrons do not put any materials in the book drops while the branches are closed.
Holds that were available for pickup when the Library District closed have been extended until the library reopens. If a patron had an item ready to pick up on Saturday, March 14, it will still be waiting for them when the Library District reopens. If a patron’s card is expiring during the closure, their expiration date has been extended.
