Staying home can make us a little stir crazy among other challenges. Physical activity can help us get some of those wiggles out and help combat fatigue. Yoga is great exercise, it can help improve sleep; build confidence; decrease stress and anxiety; and the list goes on.  Yoga can be practiced from the safety of your own home and the only equipment you need is YOU.

It is important to make time for self-care at any age to avoid burnout, and there are a few options out there to do yoga at home. The website Awake and Mindful compiled a list of 5 video options that are available on YouTube.

Yoga Ed is a great introduction to yoga. Their channel has several videos just for kids.

Cosmic Kids Yoga is another option for ages 3 and up. Cosmic Kids Yoga has a wide variety from beginner videos that focus on teaching how to do specific poses as well as full classes. Some of the videos are even based around kid’s favorite characters/stories like Moana, Harry Potter, Frozen, and Star Wars to name a few.

This Story Hive Yoga for Kids full length class is similar to a more traditional class beginning with a breath exercise, warm up, and cool down. This class has some bold graphics and is still playful, but has a bit more structure, so this class is suggested for older kids who have the patience and attention span for a full 30-minute yoga class.

Alo Yoga has you covered if you are searching to freshen up your workout wardrobe. In addition to clothing, Alo also has lots of yoga and meditation options for adults but they have added several videos for kids to their channel as well.

If you've watched any yoga classes on YouTube before, chances are you've come across Yoga With Adriene. Adriene mostly does adult yoga classes but this class in a park is suitable for older kids and pre-teens.

The above videos are a great option that can be viewed on your own time but if your kids are interested in yoga in real time, one of Gainesville's local yoga studios, Searchlight Yoga, is offering FREE kids yoga every Wednesday and Friday from 11-11:30. Please visit their website to view their schedule and facebook page for more information. According to Searchlight Yoga's webpage, this class is great for kids 5-10 years old.

Another local studio, Wildflowers Yoga, is offering kids yoga every Thursday at 4:30 on a donation basis. For more details visit their website or facebook page.

In addition to all these options above, our website offers numerous books and DVDs to supplement at-home yoga practice.
