Gainesville, Fla. – Alachua County residents can check out mobile hotspots from the Alachua County Library District starting Thursday, April 1 with the new WiFi2Go pilot program. One hundred hotspots will be available for checkout. Hotspots check out for seven days and can connect up to five devices to the Internet. Service depends on the availability of the T-Mobile network where the hotspot is used.

Gainesville, Fla. – The Alachua County Library District will increase operating hours, add Sunday service at seven branches, and offer browsing during all open hours starting Saturday, March 27.Patrons will be able to browse and use computers and printing services during all operating hours. Outside services will continue, weather permitting, from 1-5 p.m. on days when branches are open, and the Alachua Branch will continue to offer drive-through service during all operating hours.

Gainesville, Fla. – Artists ages 16-19 can submit their paintings, sculptures, and photos through April 16 to the Alachua County District’s Spring Teen Art Show.Teens can visit www.aclib.us/TeenArtShow for contest rules and entry forms. Each participant can enter up to three pieces of original artwork in any format, including videos. Submissions will be judged by local artists and arts professionals.

Gainesville, Fla. - The Alachua County Library District is one of six public libraries nationwide to win the 2021 Winter Reading Challenge. The Library District will receive a virtual author visit and a set of 50 books from publisher Simon & Schuster’s “Books Like Us” collection.From Jan. 1 through Feb. 14, Alachua County Library District participants logged 677,139 minutes of reading and earned 4,607 program badges. Nine participants won restaurant gift cards from the local prize sponsors.
